Ishigaki

We had a wonderful holiday trip! The island of Ishigaki was amazing. And Club Med was fabulous. Now we know how the other half lives! I could write and write about the things we saw and did. The highlights included a water buffalo pulled cart-ride through a primitive village on Taketomi Island. Searching for star sand on the beach. (This sand is made up of tiny shells or skeletons shaped like stars which have been discarded by the tiny creatures that outgrew them. Very impressive to the kids!) A glass bottom boat ride through Kabira bay--which is known for harvesting black pearls as well as having many, many of the worlds various types of corals. Eating. Shopping. Eating. Lounging. And more eating! Mason was in tears when it was finally time to head home--and that's pretty much how we all felt!

Happy Thanksgiving!
The heat and humidity have been letting up over the past couple of weeks. (Today it's downright cool!) The flowers seem relieved and there are climbing vines erupting in lavender blooms all over the place. I couldn't resist taking a picture. We'll be flying to Ishigaki, a nearby island for the holiday and weekend. Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. I'm quite sure there won't be a turkey or mashed potato in sight for us!

Weekly Food Challenge
The kids and I are picking out and trying a new food/product each week. Just a little challenge to keep us exploring new things. This appeared to be pnut butter; though, it was very light in color and texture. It was the consistency of frosting and quite sweet. Mason declared it a winner--especially on his toast in the mornings.

Our Daily Commute

Back and forth, we drive to school several times a day. Which gave us the idea to show you some of the things we see on our ride... lots of things growing, like these bananas and papayas. We also pass Mum fields which are strung with hanging bulbs to light the plants at night. (I read it makes them grow twice as fast. And it's a pretty sight in the evenings, but of course that's not during our drive to school.) We see plenty of big, stinky Bulls. A surf shack. And lots of other interesting things to keep us entertained for a few minutes each day. It's a pleasant little ride, thanks for coming along!
