The Boot Garden
Waiting for their owners and tomorrow's work....

Happy Halloween!

It was a big day yesterday... parties, candy, friends, fun, trick-or-treating... we did it all. The Marines did a great job hosting the festivities. And you wouldn't believe the spooky decorations and costumes found in base housing. It was outstanding! Each year they open the base to the Okinawan children for trick-or-treating also. And they line up outside the gates and down the street to get in.

Feelin' Fine
I think this shot of Alaina shows how we felt about today's late-in-the-season trip to the beach. The weather was P-E-R-F-E-C-T. Sunny, breezy, 70-ish, low humidity. We have been missing the beach these past few busy weeks. So it was an especially lovely day. Hard to keep a blue mood on a day like this. So thanks for the well wishes, I'm feeling much better. We're off now to eat sushi, sauteed mushrooms, & shrimp tempura at our favorite neighborhood restaurant. A good ending to a good day!

A bout of homesickness

I know it's been a while since we've posted anything new. Sorry! It's been fairly busy around here with all the regular activities. And, frankly, I've had a bad case of homesickness. We watched this parade recently but I couldn't seem to make myself upload the pictures or write anything interesting about them. All I've really wanted to see is everyone back home, a Target, and maybe a Chic-fil-a!!

Annya's Photo

I think it's pretty hard to take a bad picture in Okinawa. But isn't this one by my friend Annya Eyestone phenomenal? A lot of her photos are. It's such a lovely portrayal of how most of the older Okinawan women look.
